WORDING & TYPESTYLE

You will need to choose your preferred wording and typestyle prior to ordering.

We present to you several different wording templates for invitations, along with sample wordings for thank you cards and place cards, etc.  Plus widely used verses and phrases, as well as a selection of the more popular typestyles.  The layouts and verses are only examples intended for your guidance, and may be altered to suit your needs.

Upon processing your order, you are also welcome to write your own invitation layout and verses.  When creating your own wordings, pay particular attention to spelling and grammar.  What you type in the box allocated, is what gets printed. A step-by-step wording guide is available on this page if you prefer to write your own invitation layout. Also, for your convenience, we have included information on how to correctly address your envelopes.

NOTE: Have a pen and paper handy. When you find the ideal wording layouts for all your stationery items, it is important that you write down the wording codes or wording layouts for each of the items you intend to order.  This simplifies the process of completing your order, when all you need to do is enter the codes on the official Order Form. This also applies to the typestyle codes you intend to use.

ENVELOPE ADDRESSING

Whose Name First - It is customary never to separate the husband's first name from his surname. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith could also be addressed as Jane and John Smith, but not John and Jane Smith. If two people are living together but are not married they can be written together on one line as Ms. Mary Jones and Mr. John Smith, with the woman's name appearing first.

Inviting Children - Invitations to girls under age eighteen should be addressed Miss Mary Jones. For ages eighteen and over, Ms. is preferred. Boys under age nine are MASTER. Between ages nine and seventeen, no title is used. At eighteen, Mr. is used.

Inviting Families - When the children's names are not known or when there are more than three children, you can write Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Family. When the children's names are known, use first names only in order of age, starting with the oldest, as in Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, Adam, Mary, and Peter.
